PESHAWAR:

A second policeman was abducted in Peshawar within the last 24 hours near the tribal border area. The abducted officer belonged to the Hassan Khel Police Station.

According to sources, unidentified armed men kidnapped the constable while he was travelling through a village route. This incident comes just a day after another policeman from the same area was allegedly abducted and then killed.

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and police teams have launched a joint investigation into both cases. Following the incident, security forces immediately cordoned off the area and initiated a search operation to track down the attackers.

The funeral prayer of the slain constable was offered at the Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines. The ceremony was attended by a large number of senior officials, including CCPO Peshawar Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad, Commander 102 Brigade Brigadier Mubashir, SSP Operations Farhan Khan, senior Pakistan Army officers, Divisional SPs, police officials, jawans, and family members of the martyr.

On the occasion, a smartly turned-out police contingent presented a guard of honour to the mortal remains of the martyr. Senior officers laid floral wreaths and offered fateha for the departed soul.
