Nawaz preparing to leave the country: Qadri
PAT chief says his name does not need to be put on the ECL as he will not leave till he brings a revolution
LAHORE:
Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri said on Thursday that the leaders of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have begun preparations to leave the country.
"I will not leave Pakistan without bringing a revolution,” said Qadri while talking to the media outside the Minhajul Quran secretariat in Lahore.
The PAT chief said that he has not even announced the date for his revolution march and the government has also ready started packing to leave the country.
Referring to reports that the government will put his name on the exit control list (ECL), Qadri said that his name does not need to be put on the ECL as he has returned to Pakistan to bring justice and will not leave the country till he succeeds in doing so.
Providing evidence, Qadri said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family has applied for a US visa to flee the country, adding that he has even applied for visas for his household attendants. Qadri named the attendants and gave their visa application numbers as well.
Further, the PAT chief urged his supporters and the public not to allow Nawaz and his family to leave the country.
“We will end this dynastic rule,” said Qadri, adding that there is no democracy in the country.
He reiterated that the government will not stay in power beyond the end of August.
Further, he said, the government has fabricated a case against him on charges of inciting violence, waging war against the state and promoting terrorism.
On August 7, Data Darbar police registered FIR No. 304/14 on the complaint of Muhammad Khursheed, a resident of Mohni Road, Lahore. The complainant stated that during his August 3 speech, Dr Qadri incited the public to revolt against the government and tried to intimidate the government by warning it of dire consequences if his demands were not met.
Hours after the FIR was registered against Qadri, Punjab police set up pickets on all roads leading to the Minhajul Quran secretariat in Lahore. On Thursday, Qadri said that this crackdown is evidence that the government has lost the battle against him and is now resorting to adverse actions.
He further said that the police were raiding houses of PAT activists and were stopping those activists who were trying to reach the Minhajul Quran secretariat ahead of Youm-e-Shuhada. The PAT chief decried the arrests and asked government to refrain from resorting to such acts.
Chaudhry brothers in chorus
Meanwhile, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the Pakistan Muslim League-Qauid (PML-Q) president, also hit out at the Sharif brothers saying that it seems as though the people who are in the biggest hurry to leave are Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif.
Speaking to the press, Elahi and PML-Q leader Chaudhry Shujaat, questioned slammed the implementation of Article 245. "A civilian martial law has already been imposed," said Elahi.
