Sustainable future: Agriculture exhibition kicks off
We can increase our agriculture produce by taking advantage of the research done by China in the field, said Dr Javed.
LAHORE:
The first China Agriculture and Chemical (CAC) exhibition began at the Expo Centre yesterday with 160 stalls being set up by China, Pakistan and other countries. Talking to media, Punjab Agriculture Minister Dr Farrukh Javed said there were several opportunities available for partnership between Pakistan and China in the agriculture sector. “We can increase our agriculture produce by taking advantage of the research done by China in the field,” said Dr Javed, adding that the aim for a green revolution would remain a dream if agricultural reforms were not introduced. The Punjab government was working on a project to facilitate farmers, under which 20,000 diesel tubewells would be converted to biogas this year. Dr Javed said it was for the first time that a fertiliser subsidy worth Rs14 billion was being given to farmers. China Council for the Promotion of Industry (CCPIT) President Miss Mao said the country had doubled the yield of vegetables and fruits during the last one decade, crediting valuable research for the development.
