Easy money: Two cops suspended over bribery allegation
A departmental inquiry against the suspended duo has also been initiated by the ASP
RAWALPINDI:
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Cantt Circle Capt (retd) Bilal Iftikhar suspended a police officer and a constable for allegedly setting free two people in exchange for a bribe, said a police spokesman.
A departmental inquiry against the suspended duo has also been initiated by the ASP, he added.
According to the spokesman, Cantt Police Station Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Aslam Khan and his team intercepted a Suzuki Mehran (BG-57) outside Flashman’s Hotel and arrested the driver and a passenger after finding six bottles of alcohol in their possession. Later, the ASI freed them after taking a hefty bribe, the spokesman added.
Cannt Circle ASP Capt (retd) Bilal Iftikhar took stern action against ASI Aslam Khan and the driver of a police mobile van Constable Shakeel and suspended both on charges of receiving bribes.
The ASP told The Express Tribune that he “sent both corrupt cops home” and launched departmental inquiry against them. He said that there was no place for black sheep in the police department and stern action would be taken against anyone found involved in corrupt practices.
