Section 144: Swimming banned in River Kabul

Following the death of six members of a family at Kund Park where the Indus and Kabul rivers meet, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Home and Tribal Affairs department has imposed a ban on swimming in the Kabul River under Section 144. The ban has been imposed in three districts, Peshawar, Charsadda and Nowshera, read a statement issued from the office of Home and Tribal Affairs Secretary Syed Akhtar Ali Shah on Tuesday. Shah has further directed all the deputy commissioners across the province to keep swimmers away from canals so that incidents like the one in Kund are prevented in the future.
