Corruption: Hearing of Lesco CEO’s plea on 7th

Petitioner Arshad Rafique says he had been implicated in the case to humiliate him.

LAHORE:
A court on Monday fixed August 7 for the hearing of a post-arrest petition by the Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) chief executive officer (CEO) accused of corruption. Petitioner Arshad Rafique said he had been implicated in the case to humiliate him. The court adjourned the hearing after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) prosecutor sought more time for arguments. Three FIRs had been registered against Rafique under charges, including corruption, abuse of power, causing financial loss to the state and having assets beyond his known income. The Federal Investigation Agency said Rafique had Rs644,000 at his house, 49 tolas of gold, Rs3.5 million in his bank account, Rs409,727  in his wife’s account, agricultural land measuring 80 kanals, a one-kanal plot in Defence Housing Authority and a one-kanal house in a housing society on Burki Road.
