Serial assaults?: Two dead in attack on stage artist’s house

LAHORE:

A sister-in-law and a security guard of stage artist Honey Shehzadi died after unidentified men shot at her house on Sunday. Police said two children were also injured in the incident.

Police said that Shehzadi’s house in E-Block, Johar Town, was attacked by three unidentified men at around midnight on Sunday. The assailants had tried to force their way into the house but were stopped by a security guard who they shot dead. The men then shot several bullets at the house, killing her sister-in-law Kausar and injuring two children Fakhraj and Balaj.

The children were taken to Jinnah Hospital. Doctors treating them later said that their condition was stable. The bodies of the deceased were sent for autopsy and later handed to their families for burial.

The police said that it was quite possible that this was an act of terrorism but it could also be the result of an old enmity. They said they had registered a case against three unidentified assailants and were investigating the matter.

On Saturday night, stage actress Mahnoor’s house in F Block, Johar Town, was attacked by four unidentified men. One of her guards was injured in the incident.

Police said Mahnoor was attacked when she arrived at her house. Hearing the gunshots, a guard emerged from the house but was shot several times. Mahnoor was unhurt. The assailants fled.
