Speak up: PCSW condemns mob violence in Gujranwala

PCSW says incident which left 3 women dead was part of rise in violence against women, marginalised communities

LAHORE: The Punjab Commission on the Status of Women on Monday condemned mob violence against the Ahmadi community in Gujranwala last week.

In a statement, the PCSW said the incident, which left three women dead and eight people injured, was part of a recent increase in cases of violence against women and marginalised communities. The commission said the incident pointed towards disregard for law whereby some people believed they could get away with attacking citizens and seizing property without facing consequences.
