Treason allegations: IGP’s reply sought on plea against Imran, Qureshi
Petitioner says Khan and Qureshi had been giving statements against the judiciary
LAHORE:
Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday issued a notice to the inspector general (IGP) directing him to reply within four weeks to a petition seeking a treason case against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leaders Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
Justice Aalia Neelum issued the directive on a petition moved by a citizen.
The petitioner said Khan and Qureshi had been giving statements against the judiciary. He said they had also rejected the judicial tribunal investigation the June 17 riots in Model Town. He said their actions amounted to treason.
He said a court had dismissed his application for the registration of a case against Khan and Qureshi.
