Martyrs’ day: PML-Q to participate in PAT protest, says Elahi

The unpopular government will soon be ousted, he says

LAHORE:

Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, the Pakistan Muslim League-Qauid (PML-Q) Punjab president, said on Monday that his party would fully participate in Youm-i-Shuhada of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT).

He was addressing a party meeting in the Muslim League House. Elahi urged party leaders and workers to join the PAT protests planned for August 10. The PML-Q leader said that they should commemorate the sacrifices made by the PAT workers on the day.

“The dark night of oppression is about to end. The month of August is going to be decisive. A political change is imminent,” he said.

Elahi said the PML-Q’s struggle to rid the people of the government would succeed soon. “However, we have to give a final push to topple this unpopular government,” he said.

Elahi said the people involved in the Model Town killings should be awarded exemplary punishments. “This is not possible as long as Shahbaz Sharif is the chief minister,” he said. The PML-Q leader said no FIR had been registered against the police officials and government leaders involved in the killings. “This clearly shows how serious the government is in providing justice,” he said.

He said the government had failed to deal with any major problem during its one year in power. “Poverty, unemployment and lawlessness have increased. Robberies have increased to such an extent that people are afraid to step out,” he said.

“The failed rulers want to hide under the umbrella of the army. They are trying to set the army against the people,” he said. Elahi said the army would never try to stop people from protesting for their rights.
