Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s government is committed to attain the goal of economic prosperity, but some elements want to disrupt the ongoing developmental process.

This was said by Punjab Labour Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar during a flag hoisting ceremony on Saturday at Jinnah Hall, Murree.

Assistant Commissioner Murree Tahir Farooqi, ASP Tariq Ellahi, PML (N) Tehsil President Raja Daftar Abbasi, other office bearers, officials and people belonging to all sections of society participated in the ceremony, according to a press release.

“The country is facing internal and external challenges and external forces wants to destabilise Pakistan by creating unrest,” he added.

Prior to the event, Sarwar presided over a meeting in which he unveiled the programme for independence celebrations and appealed to all citizens to place national flag on their houses and demonstrate their patriotism.

The minister said he would visit various divisional headquarters to review independence celebrations programmes and that meetings of DCOs of Rawalpindi Division would be held in Rawalpindi on Monday.

He said educational institutions have chalked out special programmes to mark independence celebrations.
