Two new polio cases reported in Pakistan

New cases bring the total number of cases this year to 104

PESHAWAR: Two new polio cases surfaced in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on Saturday, bringing the total number of polio cases  in the country this year to 104.

The National Institute of Health, Islamabad, confirmed the new cases.

One of the victims was identified as 12-month-old Salma, a resident of Peshawar, who had not been immunised beforehand. The other victim is eight-month-old Hafsa, a resident of area Milward in Bara tehsil .

So far, 76 cases have been reported from Fata, 18 from K-P and nine from Sindh this year.
