Pakistan Railways got 20 more new locomotives imported from China. Before these, the Pakistan Railways had already obtained 19 Chinese locomotives. By year-end, a total of 58 Chinese locomotives are scheduled to reach Karachi, augmenting railway services throughout Pakistan. The workers and officials of the Pakistan Railways have welcomed the arrival of the new locomotives and hoped that they would be used to haul goods trains also to generate much-needed revenue for the cash strapped department. Pakistan Railways Workers Union Chairman Manzoor Razi told PPI that the new engines would open a new chapter of progress and economic sustainability for Pakistan Railways and help in improving service delivery to passengers.
