Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Tariq Fatemi while addressing the UN Security Council meeting and meetings with diplomats in New York, called on the 15-member body to take effective action to resolve the Palestinian issue and bring peace in the region.
According to Radio Pakistan, he called for the stepping up of efforts to end the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and said that the Security Council should live up to its promises and prove to the world that it is succeeding in its declared objectives -- maintaining international peace and security.
Fatemi held meetings with the UN Deputy Secretary General Jan Eliasson, US Ambassador to the UN Samantha Power and Palestinian Ambassador to the UN Riyad Mansour to discuss the situation in Gaza.

Muslims need to unite and do something at their own platform.
Does anybody care what Pakistan says in UN ? While it's own record is abysmal in this matter ?
@Haider: More than half of muslims in non muslim countries are not because of their talent. For every muslim doctor or engineer in non muslim country there are thousand no skill class muslims. Most of them either illegal migrant or asylum seekers. If Islamic countries are best place to live then why are your muslims going to non muslim country ? Answer to that is that they find more freedom than their own islamic nations where there is no freedom and no human right if you do anything beyond whats been told in the Holy Book. Tell me this, how come muslims all over world seek Asylum in non muslim countries ? Why dont they seek asylum in Islamic countries ? Where is your unity towards your fellow muslim ?
@Haider: Muslims unite ? Shia and Sunnis can;t co-exist. Ahamdis are not even considered muslims, other smaller factions like Bohri and Ismaili are out of equation. So whom are you calling to unite ? This Paranoia is causing conflicts in Muslim world, not outside influences.
@imran:
One of the downsides of not have diplomatic relations or trade with Israel. Boycott means nothing if you don't buy from Israel to begin with.
@imran: sure first bycott computers (operating system owned by Bill gates a jewish American )
@Haider:
Yes, let's worry about Muslim minorities in every corner of the world, and forget the minorities who are persecuted, murdered and exterminated in Pakistan. You are certainly God's noble creature!
"Pakistan urges UN to end violence in Gaza". And UN should urge Pakistan to end violence against Waziristan,Shia,Ahmadi,non Muslim minority.
While at the same time why is Pakistan not urging the UN to help end the occupation of East Turkistan and oppression and mass murder of Uighur Muslims by China?
@Haider: " For God Sake Unite all the muslim countries " By a magic wand!
The world listens to people and countries that have a significant stake in the economics of the world. Pakistan has little to insignificant affect on issues like these. Whereas some of the Arab countries do. But have you seen or heard of any movement from these countries? No! These Arab countries are in a stupor of intoxication from their western brethren, not Muslims. You are in a fools paradise being emotional and sympathetic with the atrocities being committed. Even the UN tows the US line, with the backdrop of Egypt, especially where they have their representative Gen. Sisi at the helm. Now, if all Muslim countries were to boycott those involved directly as well as indirectly, will there only then be an affect. Remeber the King Faisal days of the 70s?
@Tom, Csmann. Oh yes, you don't see Palestinians being killed by Zionists. Why your mouth dos not open for kids who are killed while playing.
Who will end violence in pakistan
@Haider, how about all the Muslims get the heck out of non Muslim countries and worry about your business??
I suppose he wants UN Security Council resolution authorizing Pakistan to go in an disarm Hamas?
boycott every israeli product
never believe iran,he is the secret ally of israel.
Fair enough;but shouldn't the Ahmadi issue be raised in UN too;did not Mr. Fatemi hear the cries of a persecuted people close at hand?
Oh, yes it changes everything.!!!
