Real Madrid maintain supremacy
Real maintain their ominous form in derby victory while Barca power past Getafe in La Liga.
MADRID:
Real Madrid maintained their ominous form with a 2-0 derby victory over Atletico Madrid which keeps them at the top of the Spanish La Liga.
Coach Jose Mourinho may have arrived at the Bernabeu with the reputation of a defensive tactician, but their last five games saw his side scoring 21 goals. Atletico have not won away to Real for eleven years and were immediately under pressure from the surging runs of Cristiano Ronaldo and Mesut Ozil.
Barcelona played some of their best attacking football of the season as they beat Getafe 3-1 to keep the pressure on Real. David Villa should have put Barcelona in the lead after just four minutes but Lionel Messi put them on their way mid-way through the first half, slotting home from a Villa pass. The other two goals came from Villa and Pedro Rodriguez.
