ISLAMABAD:
The government decided on Monday to keep prices of major oil products unchanged in a bid to provide relief to consumers. The decision will be effective from today.
The prices of oil were notified before the Eid holidays. The government is keeping oil prices unchanged for the third month in August.
Ogra had recommended increase in prices of petrol and High Speed Diesel (HSD) following fluctuation in global oil prices. However, the government decided to keep oil prices unchanged to provide relief to the oil consumers on Eid.
According to a summary provided to finance and petroleum ministries, the regulator recommended increase in price of petrol by Rs2.19 per litre to Rs110.16 against Rs107.97 per litre. The petrol is alternative fuel of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in motor vehicles. The demand of petrol had increased during the last few months, especially in Punjab due to the CNG load shedding.
