Communal violence: Mob burns down house in Gujranwala
The protesting residents later tried to approach the doctor’s house and claimed they were fired upon.
LAHORE:
A mob burnt down a house belonging to a member of the Ahmadiyya community in Arafat Colony of Gujranwala on Sunday. According to sources, the incident was triggered by the alleged sharing of some objectionable content by a young member of the Ahmadiyya community on Facebook. Some residents went to protest at the youngster’s house at first. Fearing mob action, the Ahmadi residents gathered at the house of a local doctor. The protesting residents later tried to approach the doctor’s house and claimed they were fired upon by those gathered inside. Some members of the mob were reportedly injured. Subsequently, the mob burnt down one house belonging to an Ahmadi and some belongings owned by other members of the community.
