Reprimanding officials: Two policemen suspended for harassing people

ABBOTABAD: Two SHOs and a moharar were suspended for allegedly harassing citizens and not addressing their complaints, official sources said on Saturday. DPO Muhammad Ali Gandapur has received over 60 complaints against SHO Shamraiz Khan, Additional SHO Fazalur Rehman and Moharar Javed of the Mirpur police station, said sources.

The complainants accused the two officers and moharar of harassing them, maltreating detainees and delaying work on public complaints. The DPO had asked the officials to improve their performance but they failed, forcing him to open an inquiry against them which proved them all guilty, said sources.

After the enquiry, Gandapur suspended them and asked them to report to Police Lines for a further investigation which is still underway, said sources. When approached for comment, Gandapur confirmed that action was being taken against the officers.

The Abbottabad district court has ordered the registration of a criminal case against Lora SHO Salim Rasheed. He entered a house without a search warrant and harassed the residents. He is on bail right now.
