The deceased Rangers personnel were identified as Sanaullah, 35, and Saifur Rehman, 38.
Initial reports say that the incident took place when the two Rangers’ personnel were standing at an ice depot located near Hospital Chowrangi in Landhi within limits of the Quaidabad police station.
District East police chief DIG Munir Shaikh told The Express Tribune that two armed men wearing a private security agency’s uniform came close to the Rangers’ personnel and opened fire at them.
“They fired at least ten times, killing both the Rangers’ personnel,” DIG Shaikh explained. “They (assailants) also took their (rangers) weapons away with them while fleeing.”
The bullets also hit and injured a six year-old Ayesha, daughter of Riaz who was also buying ice from the ice depot. While another person, Nisar Nazeer, 26, was also wounded in the incident.
The bodies were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Following the incident, Rangers and police officials also reached the site and collected evidence. Police officials collected empty shells of the weapons used in the incident, which will be sent to a laboratory.
SHO Quaidabad Amanullah Marwat said that the deceased Rangers personnel were deployed at a rangers post located near Hospital Chowrangi in Landhi and the incident took place when they left the rangers post to buy ice few minutes before the Iftar.
Police officials suspect that the incident might have been a reaction to the ongoing operations against militant outfits in Karachi while further investigations are underway.
Correction: Earlier the story incorrectly stated that the six year-old girl was also killed in the incident.

Qaidabad is now a strong hold of Talibans in Karachi. Rangers should conduct a through operation their and kicked out the immigrants from KP. They are the ones who are providing shelter to these Talibans. Just go and visit that place, it just looks like KP with no racial diversity other than of people from KP
