Sunnni Ittehad Council (PIC) Chairman Hamid Raza on Saturday said 100,000 activists of the SIC would join Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) freedom march on August 14.
Addressing a press conference, he said the government had failed on “all accounts.” He said calling the army for security in Islamabad on August 14 showed that the government was incapable of handling national affairs and needed the army to enforce its writ.
He criticised the decision of the government to call in the army in Islamabad, saying it might lead to a confrontation between civilians and soldiers.
He said he hoped the army would play a positive role in case of a clash between the opposition and the government.
He said the protest in D-Chowk in Islamabad on August 14 would be peaceful. He appealed to the armed forces not to take orders from the government if they were asked to disrupt the protest.
