Fool proof: DCO orders tighter security for Eid
Says walk-through gates should be installed at Eid congregation sites.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Noorul Amin Mengal on Saturday finalised security and administrative arrangements for Eid holidays.
He was presiding over a meeting held to review Eid arrangements.
The DCO said proper cleanliness should be ensured at Eid congregations sites.
He said walk through gates should be installed. He said security officials should sweep areas where congregations would be held several times a day.
He said encroachments, garbage and wall chalking along the routes to Eid congregations should be removed.
He said special arrangements for Eid recreation should be made for families at all public parks of the city.
He said traffic police should arrange for parking near recreational spots. He said the traffic police should ensure coordination and maintain steady traffic flow.
He directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) officials to check sewers systems and ensure water was not overflowing in any area.
The DCO said action should be taken against beggars in the city. He said the Social Welfare Department to launch an operation to curb beggary.
Mengal said overcharging fares in public transport should also be checked and squads be deployed at transport stands to take action against transporters involved in overcharging passengers on Eid occasion.
The DCO said emergency medical services should be on alert during Eid.
The DCO said a central control room would be functional at his office to monitor and coordinate security and administrative arrangements in connection with Eid. He said the control room would oversee preparations and activities during Eid. He said the control room would be operational all day and night.
He said other government departments had also set up control rooms at their offices.
He said similar arrangements should be ensured at the tehsil headquarters for a safe and happy Eid.
