The Hyderabad Development Authority’s (HDA) workers union called off their strike after salaries issued.
HYDERABAD:
The Hyderabad Development Authority’s (HDA) workers union called off their strike after the authorities released their one-month salary and assured payment of the remaining arrears after Eid. The Mehran Workers Union had suspended the water supply and shut down the drainage network on Wednesday in protest against the management for failing to pay their salaries for up to six months. The union’s general secretary Muhammad Aslam Abbassi said that the HDA has released salary for the month of April. Around 1,200 regular employees and 400 pensioners did not receive their salaries since April while the salary arrears of another 1,400 contractual staff have increased to seven months, he said.
