Ceasefire violations will be part of Indo-Pak talks: Indian defence minister
Arun Jaitley says violations will not impede dialogue; 2 people recently killed from firing by BSF...
India said on Saturday that the recent ceasefire violations, alleged by both Pakistan and India, would not impede the upcoming dialogue between the neighbouring countries and would, in fact, become a significant part of the talks, The Hindu reported.
In a conversation with the media, India’s Defence Minister Arun Jaitley said on Saturday that the ceasefire violations were itself an issue [to be discussed during] the talks.
He made the comments when asked whether the recent border violations would have any impact on talks between the foreign secretaries of both countries, which are scheduled for August 25, 2014.
According to the Indian daily, Jaitley, in a statement in the Indian parliament on July 25, said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had stressed the importance of peace along the borders and the need to uphold the sanctity of the Line of Control, during his talks with his Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
