Key meeting: Tribesmen back govt efforts to rid NWA of militants

Minister for States and Frontier Regions (Safron) Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch on Friday met a tribal jirga of North Waziristan’s elders.
Talking to the jirga, the minister said that government’s first and foremost priority was to take care of IDPs who had left their homeland on directives of the government.

Minister for States and Frontier Regions (Safron) Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch on Friday met a tribal jirga of North Waziristan’s elders.
The jirga was led by Maulana Sher Muhammad Torikhel Wazir, grandnephew and spiritual successor of Haji Mirza Ali Khan, better known as the Faqir of lpi.
Maulana Sher Muhammad said tribesmen supported the government action and wanted to get rid of those miscreants who had held tribal people hostage for many years.
He said that the people of North Waziristan were ready to undergo any hardship for the cause of peace in the country and requested the government to take all measures to clear the area of miscreants and prevent them from regrouping.
