Rule of law: LHC to hear plea against tribunal
The petitioner accused governments of using judicial commissions as a shield to protect their wrongdoings.

A full bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday adjourned the hearing of a petition questioning the functioning and legal status of the Model Town inquiry tribunal due to unavailability of the petitioner’s counsel. Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan heads the bench and Justice Anwarul Haq and Justice Abdul Sattar Asghar are its other members. Qamar Sohail had filed the petition through his counsel Aftab Ahmad Bajwa saying the formation of tribunal consisting of judges of superior courts tended to lower the esteem of the courts. He said several judicial commissions had been constituted in the past but their recommendations were never implemented.
