PESHAWAR:

An alleged kidnapper was shot dead during a police raid in Zaryab Colony late Thursday night. Police also arrested six abductors and rescued their victim.

According to a police official, Haji Imran was kidnapped for ransom on June 25 and was being kept in a house in Zaryab Colony which falls within the jurisdiction of Faqirabad police station.

He added they raided the house of Abdul Karim, an Afghan citizen, based on a tip-off on Thursday but Karim opened fire at the police team.

“Karim was shot dead in retaliatory fire and six of his partners, which included women, were arrested,” he said.

The police official further said Imran was rescued from the basement of the house where he was bound in chains. “We are investigating the matter and those arrested are expected to make important revelations during interrogation,” he added.
