SHABQADAR:

The residence of a Pakistani businessman based in Qatar and former National Assembly candidate from Mohmand Agency, Malik Mehraban Shah, was attacked with rockets in Noorani village on Shabqadar-Michni Road early Thursday morning.

Sro Kalay police official Wilayat Khan said unidentified men fired rockets and other ammunition at Mehraban’s residence at around 2am. The watchman of the house and another villager were injured while the boundary wall of the house was also damaged as a result.

An FIR against unidentified men has been registered on the complaint of Mehraban’s brother Qadeem Shah.

Police told The Express Tribune that extortionists were earlier demanding around Rs20 million from Mehraban due to which most of his family members had migrated to Qatar. Qadeem Shah was the only one left to look after the family business in Pakistan.

Insiders said all wealthy businessmen residing along Shabqadar-Michni Road have moved to Islamabad or other parts of the country for fear of extortionists.
