FAISALABAD:

A 50-year-old woman allegedly clubbed her husband to death late on Tuesday night near Satellite Town in Jhang.

A Satellite Town police spokesman said Kalsoom Bibi, a resident Chak 476 Virkan, often argued with her husband Muhammad Waryam over their finances. He said the couple had been married for 30 years and had eight children.

He said Waryam Khan had a donkey cart and mostly transported furniture.

Muhammad Jameel, a neighbour, said they were about to marry one of their daughters. He said Bibi had been depressed over for a long time and was often found crying.

Police said the couple argued on Tuesday night and Bibi hit her husband with a stick when he was asleep.

He said on hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to their house and found Waryam dead.

Police said Bibi had been arrested her under Section 302 of Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) on the complaint of Mukhtar Ahmad, a nephew of the deceased.

Mukhtar Ahmad told The Express Tribune that his aunt was mentally unstable.

He said she had often waved her stick and threatened people passing by her house. He said she had killed her husband in a fit of madness after they had fought.
