Legal action: CNG stations face suspension
CNG stations advised to follow the Refueling Procedure as prescribed in CNG Rules, 1992.
ISLAMABAD:
Moving promptly against the defaulters of, inter alia, safety rules, Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra), immediately, suspended licenses of CNG stations where lethal accidents had occurred in Karachi and Peshawar. According to an Ogra spokesperson, the authority deputed its teams for fact finding and inspections of the CNG stations in Karachi and Peshawar where CNG related accidents had occurred. The teams aimed at ascertaining the actual cause of the accidents. “As soon as the reports are received stern action would be taken against the defaulters under the law,” he added. The spokesman said that Ogra has time and again warned the CNG stations to ensure the quality of cylinder by checking certifying authority’s sticker on it before refilling it. CNG stations were advised to follow the Refueling Procedure as prescribed in CNG Rules, 1992.
