Hands up: Traffic police and constables to have weapons
The IG directed the officers to prepare a proper Standing Operating Procedure (SOP) for the duties.
KARACHI:
Since policemen are being targeted all over the city, the police department has decided to provide the traffic police, range police officers and constables with weapons. This decision was taken at a meeting with top ranking officers of the Sindh police including the acting Sindh police chief, Ghulam Haider Jamali and Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo at the central police office on Tuesday.
At the meeting, they also discussed and analysed the attacks on the policemen. The IG directed the officers to prepare a proper Standing Operating Procedure (SOP) for the duties. He also directed the Karachi police chief to make sure motorcyclists were checked in affected areas.

It was decided that officers will be bound to buy and keep their weapons while the department will provide weapons to the constables. A summary to get the needed weapons is going to be sent to the provincial government.
