Recipe of the week : Beat the heat with a chocolate cold cake
There is no baking involved in this delicious dessert, it's a must-try on a hot summer Eid day.
Don’t get deceived by the minimalism of a chocolate cold cake. This rich, nutty, velvet dessert, relished with chocolate and Marie biscuits, is a real crowd pleaser. Since there is no baking involved and no muddle, why not add this exotic dessert to your Eid dessert table? It is definitely a must-try on a hot summer Eid day. Ingredients:
2 eggs
3/4 cup of butter
10 tsp sugar
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 packet Marie biscuits
3 tbsp crushed almonds and pistachios
1 tsp vanilla essence
Nuts as many as you like, optional
Method:
Step 1: Break each biscuit into three pieces.
Step 2: Boil water in a pan. Take another bowl and put butter, sugar, cocoa powder and eggs. Mix them well and then add to the boiling water. The cake is cooked in the steam of boiling water.
Step 3: Keep stirring with a wooden spoon for about two to three minutes. Add vanilla essence to it and mix it for 10 minutes till it a smooth paste forms.
Step 4: Once stirred well, take it off the stove and throw in the biscuits, crushed pistachios and walnuts. Then pour the mixture on a greaseproof paper and freeze it for three to four hours.
Step 5: Take it out and serve chilled.
