Celebrity wish list this Eid

Gone are the days when Eid was high on bling. Now, it is all about plain, simple and trendy.

KARACHI:

With Ramazan nearing its end, shoppers are flocking to malls and other bazaars, all in search for their Eid outfits. We ask our favourite celebrities and fashion icons how they spend their Eid and what they plan on wearing. We can now easily say that gone are the days when Eid was high on bling. Now, it will be a true statement to say that it is all about plain, simple and trendy.

Adnan Siddiqui:

For me, fashion is whatever that looks good on me. At the risk of not coming off as too modest, I’ll say that I am the guy who creates his own trend. For Eid, I will wear plain kurta shalwar with no embroidery or embellishments. I prefer wearing white during the day and black at night. I will spend all three days of Eid with family and friends and also catch up on my sleep.

Bilal Lashari:

Eid for us always revolved around my grandmother. It has been very different ever since she passed away a couple of years ago. It’s an entirely different experience now. First we go to the graveyard and then visit my chacha and phuppo. Eid is the only time when I wear shalwar kameez. My uncle sends me shalwar kameez ever year. I wear it just for namaz and when I have to go see family, as soon as I am done, I get into jeans and shorts or anything casual. My advice to boys out there would say no to embroideries and embellishments.

Humaima Malick:

Eid is always with family. My sister recently got married so I will be getting lots of gifts for her and I am excited to eat all those lovely sweets on Eid – mithaiyan, sheer khurma etc. My mother makes my Eid clothes, no specific designer. I wear desi clothes with bangles and mehndi of course.

Nadia Hussain:

I will wear something from my own collection NH Pret. It will be more cut-oriented with a little bit of embellishment. I am going to go for something brighter this year. Unlike others, for Eid transmissions I wear simple clothes, nothing too heavy. It’s all style oriented.

Ali Zafar:

I wear shalwar kameez and always spend Eid with my family. I meet my in-laws in the morning and then lunch at nana nani’s. In the evening the celebration continues. This Eid, I will have to travel to London for a concert, so I will miss my family.

Ayesha Omar:

I will be spending most my Eid hosting shows. I will be taking stuff from different designers, mostly Tina Durrani.  I don’t like wearing anything too heavy on Eid - I like to keep it nice and simple, since it is not a shaadi. As far as my summer hair is concerned, I prefer natural hair or a top knot. It looks very chic and trendy and is great for this heat. Kola puris and strappy flats are my go-to shoes this year and they look great with knee length shirts with narrow pants.

Fahad Mustafa:

Eid is al about family, I don’t do anything else on Eid, no films, dramas or shows.I don’t go for any Eid shows or transmissions either; I go for the ones that are recorded earlier. It’s time for me to just unwind and relax. I have always worn shalwar kameez on Eid and this year too, I will do the same. The colours I prefer wearing are black, white or blue and they have to be completely plain, no work or embroidery.

Sarwat Gillani:

I will be spending Eid with family mostly, as well as host an Eid show. I have something in mind from Sania Maskatiya that I will wear for the show. It’s a long slightly A-line shirt which will be light on the eyes. For home, I will be wearing this rust button patti kurta by Meesha Lakhani. I will pair it up with black cropped pants and of course, stilettos.
