Gunned down: ‘Militant’ shot dead in encounter
An alleged Lyari gang member was arrested during a police raid in Khadda Market.

A suspected militant allegedly involved in the Abbas Town bombing was killed during an exchange of fire with the Crime Investigation Department (CID) in Musharraf Colony, Mauripur. CID officials said that the encounter took place when they conducted a raid on a tip-off about the presence of militants in the area.
CID in-charge Mazhar Mashwani said that the militants opened indiscriminate firing at the police and tried to escape, however, in retaliation, the CID also fired back and after an exchange of fire, one militant was killed and another managed to escape.
The deceased was identified as Khanzada alias Toor Khan. He was a close aide of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s chief operational commander in Karachi, Khan Zaman and was also the commander for Ittehad Town, Baldia Town. Mashwani said that Khanzada was an expert in making improvised explosive devices and attaching them onto motorcycles. He added that the deceased also provided 300kilogrammes of explosives to militants who were behind the Abbas Town bombing.
According to Mashwani, Khanzada was also incharge of the TTP’s extortion cell and used to send money to Waziristan and Afghanistan.
In an unrelated incident, an alleged robber was killed during an exchange of fire with the police near Falak Naz apartment on Sharae Faisal within the limits of the Airport police station. The police said that the encounter took place when the two suspects were robbing a woman travelling in a rickshaw. They added that police personnel of the Khuldabad police post were returning to the post after their rounds when they saw the woman being robbed. When the suspects saw the police, they open fire at them and tried to escape. One of the suspects was killed while the other managed to flee. The body of the alleged robber was taken to the Edhi morgue, Sohrab Goth, for identification.
Separately, an alleged Lyari gang member was arrested during a police raid in Khadda Market.
He was identified as Nadir Mirza. SSP Sheeraz Nazeer said that Mirza was the gunman of the Wasiullah Lakho group. He added that Mirza was also involved in several criminal cases.
