District officer told reporters that water samples were obtained under the project from tube-wells.
FAISALABAD:
The Agriculture Department has completed a water quality survey of 50,000 tubewells in the district.
The district officer for the Agriculture Department told reporters on Sunday that water samples were obtained under the project from tube-wells.
“After conducting a series of thorough laboratory tests, a comprehensive report has been prepared and forwarded to the government for further action,” the official said.
He said that the government had directed the Agriculture Department to complete the survey of tubewells throughout the province.
“Results of the survey will be uploaded on the Agriculture Department’s main web site. This will enable the farmers to install new tubewells at the appropriate sites,” the district officer said.
He said the survey had been conducted to determine whether or not the water was suitable for irrigation and human consumption.
The official said the district was facing a shortage of irrigation water.
