Multan graveyards hit by rainwater
Over 50 families had visited the graveyards in two days to ensure graves of their relatives were intact.

Three graveyards of Multan were flooded following heavy rains on Thursday and Friday. Several bodies were also seen floating in the graveyard at Shah Shams Colony and Chungi 14.
Ali Aslam, a resident of Chungi 14, told newsmen that the graveyard there was flooded overnight. “The biggest shock was seeing a body floating in the water,” he said.
He said several people had informed the district government and the Water and Sanitation Agency about it.
Muhammad Arshad said when he was told that his brother’s body seen out of its grave, he was very angry.
“It is the task of the city government to ensure graveyards are maintained well,” he said.
He said the body was buried again on Saturday after the rain water receded.
WASA Supervisor Muhammad Abbas told The Express Tribune that their teams had taken emergency measures when they were informed.
He said all the graveyards in the city were being surveyed to assess the damage caused by rains.
WASA Supervisor Asghar Ahmed, in charge of graveyards in Gulgasht and Shah Shams colony said around 50 graves in his area had been affected.
Waseem Ahmed, a graveyard worker at Shah Shams, told The Express Tribune that mostly fresh graves had been affected.
He said it had rained for five hours and rainwater had eroded some graves, flooding them entirely.
