Career in medicines: Entrance test for medical colleges on August 31

The entrance test for admission to medical and dental institutions in 13 cities will be held on August 31.
Entrance test kits would be available at the University of Health Sciences (UHS) and public medical colleges in the province from August 4, said UHS Vice Chancellor (VC) Maj Gen (r) Muhammad Aslam on Friday.
The last date for submission of applications is August 9, Aslam told an orientation seminar on admission tests at the Allama Iqbal Medical College.
The 150-minute test would start at 9am simultaneously in Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rahim Yar Khan and Hasan Abdal, the UHS vice chancellor said.
A test centre in Sialkot has been added this year on the direction of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Candidates securing at least 60 per cent marks in FSc (pre-medical) or equivalent examinations and having domicile of any district of the Punjab, Islamabad, and Gilgit-Baltistan would be eligible to take the test.
The vice chancellor said there would be a single question paper consisting of 220 objective-type questions, divided into four sections: physics (44 questions), chemistry (58 questions), English (30 questions) and biology (88 questions).
There are 3,022 MBBS open-merit seats in 17 public medical colleges and 175 BDS open-merit seats in three government dental colleges.
Besides, there are nine seats reserved for candidates from Sindh, six for candidates from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 26 for Balochistan, 49 for Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 64 for Gilgit-Baltistan, 17 for FATA, 85 for foreign candidates on regular fee basis, 76 for foreign and self-finance candidates, 20 for disabled candidates, 61 for candidates from six under-developed districts of the Punjab, one for Cholistan and one for Afghan refugees living in the Punjab.
