Curbing corruption: SIDA chief takes notice of water theft

Zahid Hussain Junejo directs officials to ensure that the tail-end growers receive water for irrigation.

GHOTKI: The managing director of the Sindh Irrigation and Drainage Authority , Zahid Hussain Junejo, has taken notice of the farmers’ complaints about theft and shortage of irrigation water and directed the officials to take action against the culprits. He directed them to register FIRs against the perpetrators. Talking to media after visiting the Guddu barrage on Wednesday, Junejo directed the officials to ensure that the tail-end growers receive water for irrigation without discrimination. Earlier, he had visited the Guddu Barrage, the Ghotki feeder canal and water distributaries in Ubauro, Ghotki and Khanpur Mahar areas.
