BAHAWALPUR:

Bahawalpur Regional Police Officer (RPO) Muhammad Tahir Roy chaired a high-level departmental meeting on Wednesday to make security arrangements for the death anniversary of Hazrat Ali (RA) on 21st of Ramazan.

All three district police officers (DPOs) of Bahawalpur division attended the meeting.

Roy directed the DPOs to finalise security plans for the day. He said all processions and gatherings should be monitored through CCTV cameras.

Referring to the Uch Sharif incident, Roy said policemen guarding mosques and imambargahs should be first briefed about their duties and provided the latest weapons and equipment.

“Due to the ongoing operation against terrorists in North Waziristan, security of important government buildings, mosques and Ramazan Bazaars should be beefed up. Arrangements should be made to inspect vehicles and passengers at all entrances and exits from the district,” he said.

The meeting also discussed cases of murder, burglary and kidnapping for ransom.

The RPO said police teams should focus on collecting evidence against suspects to bring them to justice.

He directed police officials to coordinate their investigations with the Prosecution Branch.

Roy directed police officials to arrest wanted criminals in their respective areas.

He also directed the officials to take stern action against unregistered motorcycles because they were used in crimes.
