The Islamabad Police and Rangers conducted a joint operation in the slums near Sector I-11/1 and rounded up 80 suspects including 21 Afghans, said a police spokesperson. He said that the search operation was conducted in the Sabzi Mandi area. The spokesperson said the documents of the arrested Afghans and other suspects would be verified besides verifying their cell phone SIMs to determine if they have any links with terrorists or criminal gangs. Meanwhile, the Sabzi Mandi police arrested alleged extortionists Temur Hussain Abbasi and Arshad Mehmood Abbasi, both residents of Rawalpindi. The police also recovered two 30-bore pistols from them.
