Journal: Special ‘Adbiyat’ issue on Naat out

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) has brought out a special issue of quarterly “Adbiyat” on the genre of Naat. Chairman PAL Shiraz Latif said the magazine will serve as a reference document for students and scholars. He said Pakistani literature is very rich in the genre of Naat. He said the issue will not only contribute to Pakistani literature but will also collect all the representative Naats of Pakistani languages in one volume. The issue also features Naats in Arabic and Persian languages. One section of the magazine is dedicated to a selection of Naats by the companions of the Prophet (PBUH) and others venerable personalities. It also has a bibliography of the Naats published in Pakistan since 1947. The issue consists of 552 pages and contains Naats in Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Brahvi, Balochi, Pashto, Punjabi, Seraiki, Sindhi, Gojri and Hinko.
