MULTAN: Police on Monday arrested a man from Lahore, who is suspected of being involved in the rape and murder of a child.

The arrest was made using the information provided by the principal suspect in the case, who is already in police custody.

Eight-year-old Naqeebullah, a resident of People’s Colony, was abducted when he went to buy groceries from the local market on July 12.

He did not return home and his parents contacted Mumtazabad police. Police started a search operation and found his body from a field near the Dunyapur Road late that night.

The body was sent to Nishtar Hospital Multan, where an autopsy confirmed that boy had been raped.

Police arrested a male servant working in a neighbouring home, who revealed that another servant, Sher Khan, was also involved in the crime.

Khan then fled to Lahore, from where he was arrested on Monday.

Cantonment SP Mehmoodul Hasan told The Express Tribune that both men had confessed to raping and murdering the child.

Bhakkar police found an abducted boy and arrested three suspects on Monday. Five-year-old Muhammad Zaryaab went missing from his home from Mankera on Sunday.

His kidnappers demanded a Rs500,000 ransom for his return. His father contacted the Bhakkar police.

Bhakkar DPO Shakir Hussain Dawar constituted a team that arrested Arshad, when he came to collect the ransom. On the information obtained from Arshad, police raided a house in Shafi Colony, Bhakkar and freed Zaryaab.  Police have also arrested two of Arshad’s accomplices.
