Crime roundup: 2 suspects, seminary administrator shot dead
The police claim to have killed two criminals in an alleged encounter near Aram Bagh on Saturday morning. The identities of the victims have yet to be determined.
SHO Minhajul Hasan told The Express Tribune that the two motorcyclists had opened fire on the police mobile when they were cautioned to stop at a snap-checking point. “The police personnel retaliated and managed to injure both the criminals, but they collapsed before we could take them to the hospital,” said the police officer.
In an unrelated incident, the prayer leader and administrator at the Jamia alMustafa alRizvia mosque and seminary, located in KESC Society near Safoora Chowrangi, was killed when unidentified men barged into his room and shot him in the head.
Sachal police SHO Ismail Lashari said that the victim, identified as 34-year-old Qari Muhammad Liaquat, used to reside in a room in the seminary.
