Sharing the burden: K-P should be exempted from federal taxes says Asad Qaiser
Government and public should join hands in helping displaced persons.
DI KHAN:
The federal government should exempt Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa from all taxes, said Speaker Asad Qaiser during a press conference in the jirga hall of Commissioner House in DI Khan on Saturday.
“We are facing lots of problems due to the ongoing operation in the agency,” he said.
The speaker said the federal government should help the province during these difficult times because the problem of the internally displaced persons rests with the entire country and not just K-P. All political parties, organisations and the public should solve the problems of IDPs who have fled North Waziristan Agency because of the military operation.
The speaker said more force officials should be sent to the district to maintain the law and order situation.
Omni shops would also start working in the provinces to help the displaced people and gather charity for them.
Qaiser also saidthey are against the unannounced power outages. The load-shedding should not be for prolonged hours. He said he talked to the federal government several times regarding the issue but they are not interested in solving it. The chief minister will surround Wapda House on July 16 if nothing changes. “Power outages were already a problem and the influx of IDPs has increased the burden on the transformers,” said Qaiser.
The government is announcing projects worth Rs44 billion and Rs55 billion for other provinces, and the same should be done for IDPs and the people of K-P, said the speaker.
He demanded the government announce a package for rehabilitation as Miranshah bazaar and the surrounding areas have been destroyed in the operation, he said.
