Balochistan government: PML-N threatens to leave treasury benches
Home minister says party is being ignored by its coalition partner NP.
QUETTA:
Differences between Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and the National Party (NP) – both coalition partners in the Balochistan government – emerged once again after Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti, who belongs to the PML-N, complained his party is being ignored.
“The PML-N will no longer sit on the treasury benches and would rather sit on the independent benches, if NP continues to ignore PML-N ministers and MPAs,” Bugti said at a news conference in Quetta on Friday.
He said his party is angry about the arrest of MPA Mohammed Khan Lehri and his two guards. Police have denied arresting Lehri.
Lehri, who was present at the news conference alongside Bugti, claimed his guards never did anything wrong but were still beaten up by policemen.
Bugti, meanwhile, said PML-N, despite having a huge stake in the coalition government is being ignored in day to day affairs. “The police had humiliated PML-N MPA,” he said.
Despite holding the post of home minister, Sarfraz Bugti complained about the lack of security arrangements for PML-N leaders. Sarfraz Bugti said the leaders of PML-N are not being provided with appropriate security. “PML-N leaders and activists were killed in targeted attacks and bomb explosions. There are threats to their lives, but no foolproof security arrangements were made,” he said.
He did not specify from which group, the leaders of PML-N are facing threats.
