Vacant promises?: Joseph Colony victims move court for compensation
Counsel said they would distribute the amount when the ministry released funds.

Lahore High Court on Friday sought final arguments after hearing a petition filed against the government for non-payment of compensation to the victims of the Joseph Colony incident.
The petitioners claimed that 30 of the affected families had not received the compensation announced by former president Asif Ali Zardari. The petitioners accused the government of deliberately deferring payments and discriminating against them. They prayed to the court to direct the government to award the compensation to the remaining families.
A state counsel told the court that the finance ministry had not released the amount to the Ministry of Religious Affairs. The counsel said they would distribute the amount when the ministry released funds. Justice Khalid Mehmood Khan directed both sides to come up with final arguments and adjourned hearing till 23 July.
