Blatant disobedience: CCPO told to register FIR against SHO

The case has been pending in the court since 2004 and statements of 11 prosecution witnesses have been recorded.

An additional district and sessions judge on Thursday wrote to the capital city police officer (CCPO) Lahore to register an FIR against the Gulshan-i-Ravi station house officer for not producing a prosecution witnesses in a murder case for 19 months despite several court notices.


The case has been pending in the court since 2004 and statements of 11 prosecution witnesses have been recorded.

The last statement was recorded on November 29, 2012.

The rest of the witnesses are all police officials who have not shown up at court. They include head constables Muhammad Akram, Raza Abas, Habib Hussain, Ghulam Dastageer, Sub Inspector Zahid Hussain, Constable Saad Hussain and Assistant Sub Inspector Muhammad Akram.

Judge Ali Nawaz stated in his letter that these witnesses had been summoned in the case but they did not show up.

He said on May 14, operations SSP was directed ensure to attendance of the witnesses. He said the orders were ignored.

The letter further stated that the SHO was disobeying court orders and show cause notices were issued against him.

The judge directed the CCPO to register an FIR against the SHO under Section 228 of the PPC and 155-C of the police order and submit report about action taken against the SHO in on the next hearing.

The CCPO was further directed to ensure presence of the remaining witnesses on July 23.

According to case details, Shehbaz, Ilyas, Bakir Ali and Khalid had murdered one Nadeem Ghafar for informing the police of their movements.

The accused persons were believed to be drug peddlers.
