Kohat blast toll rises to 47
KOHAT:
Forty seven people were killed on Saturday in back to back explosions at a food distribution point at an IDPs camp in Kohat's Katcha Pakka area.
The first blast is believed to be a suicide attack. Sources add that the second blast took place when people gathered for relief activities after the first blast.
Commissioner Kohat, Khalid Umerzai told Express that the first blast was a suicide attack while the second blast was caused by a more lethal planted device. Nearly 1000 people live in the camp.
Bomb disposals squad officials defused a third IED from the area, preventing a further lost of life.
The Katcha Pakka camp hosts nearly one thousand people displaced by fighting in the region, as security officials flush out militants from the tribal belt.
The attack comes a day after a hit on Quetta left nearly a dozen dead, and scores other injured, pushing the city into a virtual shutdown.
