LAHORE:

Opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly Mehmoodur Rashid on Thursday submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly against the killing of Palestinians by Israeli forces.

The resolution demanded that the federal government lodge a protest in the United Nations Security Council against the indiscriminate killing of Palestinians, including children.

Rashid said the world must take notice of Israel’s war crimes, especially in the month of Ramazan. He said Israel had set a bad example by bombing people during Ramazan.

Criticising the role of Organisation of Islamic Conference, the opposition leader said the OIC needed to be more pro-active.

Rashid has also submitted a resolution against hike in flour prices. He said the rising prices had exposed the government’s claims of keeping inflation in check.

Rashid later told the media the government was afraid of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s Tsunami March on August 14. It was trying to divert people’s attention towards the issue of the people displaced as a result of an offensive in North Waziristan, he said. Rashid said the nation was united in their resolve to help the internally displaced persons.

“The provincial government should pay attention to the problems of 100 million people who are braving load shedding and suffering on account of high prices of flour and vegetables.”
