Change due: Telecom policy to be revised
IT and Telecom minister said that the protection of the interests of consumers is a top priority of the government.

State Minister for Information Technology and Telecom Anusha Rehman has said the government is devising a comprehensive policy by reviewing the laws regarding omission of carbon, recycling of e-material and environmental protection issues in the telecom sector. The minister made these remarks while chairing a high level meeting here to review Telecom Policy 2003. The minister said that Ministry of Information Technology and Telecom (MoIT&T) was devising a strategy to ensure maximum protection to people from widespread cyber crimes including financial scams, fraudulent online activities and harassment. She said that the protection of the interests of consumers is a top priority of the government. Rehman said that her ministry has been involved in various mega projects including introduction of next generation technology in the country, establishment of tele-centres in underprivileged cities and expansion of branchless banking in remote areas.
