PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau’s Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa chapter on Thursday arrested the account officer of Peshawar Development Authority, Nadeem Shad. Shad was accused of embezzling over Rs100 million, in connivance with others, including the employee of a private bank. During the course of the enquiry, it was discovered that Shad colluded with others to open a ‘fake’ bank account where they transferred Rs100 million from the official PDA account at a private bank. The same amount was then withdrawn and pocketed. The statement released by NAB said it is actively pursuing the case and investigating the role of those involved in the misappropriation. The accused will be presented in an accountability court for obtaining physical remand today (Friday).
